Sanxing Lighting Awarded One of the First Domestic Carbon Footprint Certificates for Lighting Products
On December 26, 2023, the General Assembly & Academic Forum of the Low-Carbon Lighting Research Center of the Chinese Society for Urban Studies, themed "Exploring New Opportunities in Carbon, New Development in Lighting", was grandly held in Beijing.
The Low-Carbon Lighting Research Center is technically supported by the Carbon Neutrality Research Institute of China Academy of Building Research Co., Ltd. It conducts carbon footprint accounting and analyzes life-cycle data for lighting products. With its outstanding performance in the field of low-carbon lighting, our company (Sanxing Lighting) was successfully awarded one of the first batch of Carbon Footprint Certificates for Lighting Products in China with its LED streetlight "Glory Movement".
As global attention to sustainable development continues to grow, emphasis has been placed on greenhouse gas emissions from products and activities worldwide. China has also introduced a series of policies tailored to different industries to advance the national “Dual Carbon” strategy, effectively reducing greenhouse gas emissions and ultimately achieving carbon neutrality. The national mandatory standard General Code for Building Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Utilization (GB55015) and the industrial standard Standard for Design of Urban Nightscape Lighting (JGJ/T163) both require that feasibility study reports, construction plans and preliminary design documents include carbon emission analysis.
Lighting products are a key part of urban construction, and their carbon footprint directly affects the carbon emissions of construction projects.
Carrying out carbon footprint accounting for lighting products helps effectively implement relevant standards and reduce carbon emissions from construction projects. The LED streetlight Glory Movement features a modern, minimalist design for enhanced versatility. Its lamp body is die-cast from aluminum alloy, passivated and coated with outdoor-grade plastic powder, providing strong environmental adaptability. With scientific optical and thermal design, the light chamber is equipped with a breather valve to ensure long service life. It uses high-efficiency LEDs and ultra-clear tempered glass, delivering high lumen maintenance, low dust adhesion, and stable, high-performance output.
In addition, verified by the Carbon Neutrality Research Institute of China Academy of Building Research Co., Ltd., the Glory Movement has a carbon footprint of 5743.52 kgCO₂e per unit, with a carbon efficiency of 5.19 kgCO₂e/(Mlm·h).
Beyond low carbon and energy saving, the Glory Movement also delivers outstanding performance in road lighting upgrades. Taking Zhuhai Avenue in Guangdong as an example—a major expressway running through eastern and western Zhuhai with strict, high-standard lighting requirements—the Glory Movement not only offers the advantages of low carbon emissions, low energy consumption, long service life and low maintenance costs, but also significantly improves road lighting quality, fully meeting the demanding illumination needs of urban arterial expressways.
