Hefei Swan Lake Landscape Lighting Project: IOT Smart Solution With Smart Outdoor Lighting

1. Project Background

Swan Lake sits in the Cultural & Administrative New District of Hefei, Anhui Province. This 1,040-acre artificial lake is one of the largest open urban parks, equipped with sculptures, waterfront beaches, fountains and lush green belts. Since 2017, Hefei municipal government has rolled out dozens of city nightscape upgrading programs to shape a unique urban image and boost tourism value.

As the core landmark of the new district, Swan Lake needed an interconnected "Internet Plus" lighting system. Sanxing Lighting developed customized Smart Outdoor Lighting with 8 interchangeable functional modules to unify illumination, landscape decoration and intelligent park management. In total 30 units were installed at all main park entrances.

2. Modular Design & Core Functions of Smart Outdoor Lighting

This series Smart Outdoor Lighting features minimalist industrial appearance with fully modular structure. Clients can pick and match modules according to real operation needs. For Swan Lake project, six modules were adopted, excluding EV charging and tree uplight units.

2.1 HD Surveillance Module For Crowd Safety

Every Smart Outdoor Lighting fixture is fitted with high-definition cameras to monitor heavy pedestrian flow at entrances.

• Adopts H.265 high-efficiency compression to cut storage cost

• Low-power infrared array supports 30m clear night vision

• Offline recording resume transmission prevents video loss during network outages

• Compatible with Smart NVR for intelligent event search, analysis and condensed playback

The system allows management staff to monitor the whole park in real time and respond to emergencies rapidly.

2.2 High-Power Outdoor Wi-Fi Module

Built-in industrial wireless AP solves public network shortage issues for visitors. Key technical strengths:

• Maximum air transmission speed up to 300 Mbps

• Advanced anti-interference & bidirectional adaptive modulation

• Single lamp coverage radius reaches 50 meters with strong signal penetration

2.3 Cultural Pattern Projection & Decorative Light Ring

Equipped ground projection module is the visual highlight of the whole nightscape. Following Sanxing Lighting’s design concept of "Light Up City Culture", custom projection patterns were created based on local geography and local spirit:

1. Seasonal plants, flowers and birds to match the park’s natural scenery

2. Elegant swan silhouettes echoing the name "Swan Lake"

3. City slogan "Great Lake, Great Innovation Highland" to present Hefei’s urban positioning

A subtle blue decorative ring around each lamp body eliminates monotonous single-color design, while soft main lighting evenly lights all pedestrian paths after sunset.

3. Nightscape Experience & Project Influence

After dusk, rows of Smart Outdoor Lighting stretch along winding lakeside trails. Reflections of patterned projections and soft lamplight ripple on the lake surface, forming a gorgeous layered night view that was featured on national news broadcast CCTV.

Combining basic pathway lighting, landscape decoration, public Wi-Fi and security monitoring, these multi-functional Smart Outdoor Lighting fixtures balance practical service and local cultural display, bringing convenient, pleasant leisure space for local residents.
