Jinan "One Lake One Ring" Landscape Lighting Project: Custom Lotus & Willow Cultural Street Lamp Solution
1. Project Background
The "One Lake One Ring" lighting project was a key municipal project launched by Jinan government in 2017, serving as the core upgrading work of the city’s "Spring City Night Banquet" night tourism system. The whole lighting zone centers on Daming Lake and the surrounding moat park. Lighting fixtures outline ancient bridges, natural springs and classical buildings, fully showcasing Jinan’s unique history and local cultural charm described in the famous poem "Half the city is covered by mountains and half the lake; lotus flowers bloom beside willow trees everywhere".
The overall lighting scheme was drafted by Beijing Tsinghua Tongheng Lighting Design Institute. Sanxing Lighting took charge of deepening structural design, material selection and full mass production of all landscape lamps, including courtyard lights, bollard lights, wall lamps and pendant lights with two core cultural designs: Lotus Shape and Willow Style.
2. Design & Cultural Features of Lotus & Willow Lamps
2.1 Lotus Shape Landscape Street Light
Mainly deployed along Daming Lake pedestrian paths. The lamp poles adopt dark green and sepia color palette, matched with warm yellow lotus-pattern lampshades. Traditional Chinese auspicious patterns like cloud scrolls and interlocking geometric lines are carved on lamp bodies, together with embossed Chinese character "Spring" that stands for Jinan Spring City.
Three layers of independent light sources are equipped for main walkway illumination, decorative ambient light and tree uplight. Soft warm light flows out at night, blending perfectly with ancient pavilions, lotus ponds and willow trees along the lake, presenting an authentic Ming & Qing style waterfront scene.
2.2 Willow Style Landscape Lamp
Installed all along Jinan Moat, featuring minimalist streamlined willow leaf lampshades hand-blown by traditional glass craft. The lamp body keeps unified dark green tone consistent with the whole scenic area. Three-tier light layout delivers soft emerald decorative glow. When visitors take boat trips on the moat at dusk, the gentle lamp reflections float on water mist, forming fairy-like layered night views.
Delicate custom pendant lamps are arranged by Wulongtan Lake. Seen from the opposite bank, rows of pendant lights shimmer like star clusters over the water surface.
3. Strict Craftsmanship & Short-Delivery Production Strength
Sanxing Lighting completed drawing confirmation, raw material screening, sample testing and full batch production within only one month despite tight construction deadlines. For lampshade material alone, dozens of rounds of material comparison and light transmission tests were carried out before adopting hand-blown ancient craft glass. Every finished lamp passed anti-corrosion, UV resistance and light uniformity inspection before delivery.

After the whole lighting system went live, night tourism of Jinan’s No.1 Spring Scenic Spot boomed rapidly. Official tourism statistics recorded 1.05 million visitors during the Spring Festival holiday alone, among which Daming Lake received 620,000 tourists. The cultural street lamps became viral photo landmarks for locals and travelers, greatly boosting the city’s night-time economy and urban brand influence.
