High-Density Urban Areas & Low-Impact Development • "SanXing's Solution" for Urban Lighting | Dengliang Road (RBD), Nanshan District, Shenzhen
As a city with "innovation" as its core gene, Shenzhen’s Houhai Central Area in Nanshan District has long been a "test bed" and "showcase" for urban design, as well as a lighthouse area exploring the connotation of urban civilization and pioneering characteristics.
With the rapid development of the area, Houhai Central Area is also facing new challenges: How to further improve functional layout, optimize public spaces, and stimulate urban vitality through low-impact development in high-density urban spaces? As a key urban public infrastructure, how can urban lighting support urban renewal and development through lighting design?
Located in the reclamation area of Houhai Bay, Nanshan District, Dengliang Road is positioned as the core road of Nanshan’s RBD. In the lighting scheme, our company (Samsung Lighting) has proposed the "SanXing Solution" for high-density, low-impact urban renewal.
Breaking the constraints of traditional lighting design, we transcend the boundaries of conventional design concepts. By exploring new perspectives on people, time, and space, we promote the innovation and upgrading of urban functions. Urban lighting design is far from a static blueprint; instead, it involves the continuous refinement of regional functions, business formats, and image, as well as the constant distillation of the connotation and extension of urban public goods. In doing so, it depicts the group portrait of free living in Dengliang Road's road space, the unrestricted state of pedestrian safety with ease, and the picture of natural and harmonious urban ecological coexistence, systematically presenting Shenzhen's unique humanistic and social ecology.
Our company's lighting design scheme for Dengliang Road adopts high-low arm landscape street lamps. On the basis of meeting nighttime traffic lighting needs, it focuses on creating a comfortable travel experience and a non-motorized travel system. Adhering to a people-oriented approach, we enhance the connection between motor vehicle lanes and pedestrian spaces, fostering the harmonious coexistence of humans and nature.
The light source utilizes high-transparency LED glass modules, which are not prone to dust accumulation or rainwater erosion. With an IP67 protection rating, the modules are resistant to harsh environments, thereby ensuring a long product service life and low failure rate. The stable operation output of the street lamps guarantees the safety of nighttime travelers. The high-low arm design maximizes the rational use of light. Combined with green isolation belts, it realizes the three-dimensional and organic integration of motor vehicle lanes and the non-motorized travel system through reasonable layout, redefining the human scale in high-density cities. This design makes driving safer and non-motorized travel more comfortable; the delicate balance between the two scales injects new vitality into the streets.
In high-density urban renewal projects, the lighting functions for both the non-motorized travel system and motor vehicle lanes are integrated into a single pole. This design meets the actual lighting and experience needs of travelers, thus achieving low-impact urban lighting renewal within limited space.
We cultivate blue-green spaces and create public art, organically integrating street lamp poles with the city and art. We explore the explicit expression of urban public spaces and cultural temperament, promoting the permeation and integration of the ecological and public connotations of the blue-green system into art. By bringing public art down to the grassroots and integrating it into the overall urban perception, it becomes an integral part of daily life, transforming Shenzhen’s urban culture into perceptible visual symbols.
Our landscape street lamps are integrated with various landscapes and scenarios. Adhering to the three-color matching principle of two-dimensional graphic design, they foster blue-green spaces and enhance the urban "cloud-level" public experience. The understated and adaptable high-grade gray is seamlessly integrated with roads, buildings, and seawater, setting off the striking visual effect of blue and green. With a minimalist and modern pole design, the lamps blend perfectly into the overall picture of urban design. In Shenzhen, a city where diverse cultures converge intensively, the low-visual-impact design accentuates the unified temperament of a future metropolis with rapid development.
With the iteration of spatial layout, the composite layout of partial functions achieves systematic service improvement and problem optimization. Integrating multiple road poles into a single integrated pole not only solves the problem of cluttered road poles and enhances the road environment but also breaks the limitation of the single-function pole. Furthermore, taking this as a carrier, it centralizes high-density functional terminals such as traffic lights, signboards, and surveillance cameras onto one pole, optimizing public space and realizing the operation and management of urban roads with minimal impact.
Our integrated pole design overcomes the structural flaw of exposed connectors in traditional designs. By adopting plug-in components and other methods, the appearance of the pole is enhanced. The square cone pole shape, which is more in line with contemporary aesthetic trends, highlights the development style of urban modernization.
Moving forward, our company will continue to advance the innovation and upgrading of product R&D and design, launch lighting products and urban furniture tailored to diverse needs, deepen smart product technologies and low-carbon energy-saving solutions, create a healthy and intelligent urban lighting environment, enhance user experience, support urban renewal, and illuminate a beautiful China with the light of technology.
