Changsha Meixihu International Culture & Arts Centre Landscape Lighting Project: Modular Multi-Functional Smart Lamppost Solution
1. Project Overview
Designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, Changsha Meixihu International Culture & Arts Centre stands in Xiangjiang New Area, Changsha. As a top local cultural landmark, the complex covers around 100,000 ㎡ of land, with a construction area of 120,000 ㎡. It includes a grand theatre, small theatre and art museum. Its unique curved facade looks like hibiscus flowers beside Meixi Lake.
The site hosts regular performances, art exhibitions and public events, requiring well-planned outdoor lighting and public safety facilities. To match the avant-garde building style and surrounding business district, Sanxing Lighting delivered tailored Multi-Functional Smart Lamppost for the whole landscape system. Together with Smart Outdoor Lighting, these facilities create a unified night scene while supporting daily intelligent operation.
2. Modular Design & Functional Modules
All Multi-Functional Smart Lamppost adopt separate modular structures. Project owners can select and combine different modules based on actual operation demands.
For this arts complex with heavy pedestrian flow, each lamppost is equipped with LED path lighting, HD surveillance cameras and public broadcast systems. Optional upgrades include Wi-Fi hotspots and charging ports.
2.1 Security Monitoring Module
Built-in HD cameras provide full coverage for public areas.
It supports H.265 video coding to save storage space. Infrared lights enable clear monitoring up to 30 meters at night. The system supports offline recording, so footage will not be lost even with temporary network interruption. It works smoothly with NVR systems for video check and event playback.
The monitoring system helps staff manage crowd flow and respond quickly to emergencies during large performances and exhibitions.
2.2 Public Broadcast & Landscape Lighting
The public broadcast module can release event reminders, evacuation notices and background music across pedestrian areas. The lighting unit delivers soft, even illumination. After sunset, the light sets off the streamlined outline of the buildings and forms comfortable viewing surroundings for visitors.
3. Night Scene Effect & Practical Value
When night falls, the cultural centre becomes a popular public leisure spot. Architectural floodlights highlight the venue’s special shape, while rows of smart lampposts light up walkways. Matching Smart Outdoor Lighting creates layered shadows and a pleasant artistic atmosphere.
This project breaks the limits of traditional single-function lamps. It combines IoT technology with modern aesthetics, offering a complete intelligent infrastructure solution for high-end cultural venues.
