Qingdao Oriental Movie Metropolis Landscape Lighting Project: Bionic Led Street Light for World-Class Film Cultural Complex

1. Project Background & High-End Positioning

Qingdao, known as the City of Movies, is a vital node city under the Belt and Road Initiative. In June 2018, the SCO Summit was successfully held in Qingdao, bringing unprecedented development opportunities to the city’s cultural tourism industry.

Oriental Movie Metropolis sits in Lingshan Bay, West Coast New Area of Qingdao, with a total investment exceeding 50 billion RMB. It is a world-leading cultural tourism complex covering all business formats of Wanda Culture, including film studios, commercial plazas, amusement parks, hotels, yacht clubs, catering, schools and hospitals. As one of the ten core functional zones in West Coast New Area, it aims to build an international film industry base, national cultural demonstration zone, central cultural district and the "Future City" of Qingdao.

To match this high-end urban landmark positioning, Sanxing Lighting proposed the "Culture-Led Lighting" design concept and launched the customized bionic Led Street Light (named Shenglian) as the core landscape lighting product. The lotus symbolizes peace, prosperity, unity and cooperation, conveying best wishes for the successful SCO Summit, friendly cooperation among SCO member states and booming cultural tourism in Qingdao.

2. Three Types of Bionic Led Street Light Product Introduction & Coastal Technical Advantages

Three styles of Led Street Light were deployed across the whole complex: four-head type, single horizontal arm type and high-low arm type. All fixtures adopt bionic lotus petal design, extracting elegant lotus lines and combining modern minimalist aesthetics, presenting vivid blooming lotus shapes.

2.1 Structural & Anti-Corrosion Performance for Coastal Environment

• Lamp body spliced with high-pressure die-cast aluminum and steel;

• Special outdoor anti-corrosion plastic powder coating for coastal high-humidity, salt-spray environment;

• Stable, grand and fashionable integrated appearance, balancing oriental elegance and modern sense.

2.2 Three Deployment Models for Different Scenarios

1. Four-head Led Street Light: Installed at all main road intersections; two diagonal lotus petal lamp heads reach 4 meters in diameter, as landmark visual lighting nodes.

2. Single horizontal arm Led Street Light: Arranged along Coral Shell Bridge (No.1 Bridge) and No.2 Bridge, the essential passage to Oriental Movie Metropolis Grand Theatre. The upturned petal lamp heads echo the curved Coral Shell Bridge, forming elegant layered night scenes.

3. High-low arm Led Street Light: Laid on main roads, auxiliary roads and resort zones of Star Island, matching a large number of European-style buildings without visual conflict.

2.3 Optical Design & Night Illumination Effect

All Led Street Light adopt scientific equal-brightness light distribution structure with high-quality Pc light cover. The output light is even, soft and glare-free, providing safe and comfortable road illumination at night. After dark, rows of lotus-shaped Led Street Light stretch along the coastline; the horizontal arm versions look like seagulls soaring over Lingshan Bay, forming shocking visual landscapes together with the colorful Coral Shell Bridge. Overlooking Star Island from a high perspective, continuous light belts wrap around the whole island, realizing perfect integration of functional road lighting and artistic landscape effect.
