Sanxing Lighting • “New Chinese Lanterns” Shine on Taiyuan Yingze Avenue — A Tribute to the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the PRC
On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, “Yingze Avenue,” known as the "First Street of Shanxi", has been magnificently renewed and unveiled to the public. Sanxing Lighting’s newly designed “New Chinese Lanterns” have made a dazzling debut as the main lighting fixtures for the road’s upgraded illumination system. With enhanced lighting quality, cultural depth, and urban innovation, they proudly serve as a luminous tribute to this historic national milestone.
The name “Yingze” traces its roots to Yingze Gate, the southern gate of the ancient city of Taiyuan, a historical landmark deeply embedded in the city's identity. Landmarks such as Yingze District, Yingze Lake, Yingze Park, and Yingze Hotel all derive their names from it. The city's central east-west axis passes just outside Yingze Gate, giving rise to Yingze Avenue. Among Shanxi locals, there is a heartfelt belief that Yingze Avenue was built to welcome Chairman Mao, reflecting the people’s deep affection and reverence for him.
Elegant Design Meets Cultural Heritage
The recent renovation of Yingze Avenue follows the design philosophy of "simplifying complexity for profound beauty" and adheres to the principles of "returning space to the people and enhancing color while reducing carbon." It embraces the geographical context while respecting Taiyuan’s cultural heritage and collective memory.
Sanxing Lighting’s New Chinese Lanterns are equipped with high-efficiency LED light sources, offering significantly improved energy savings, easier maintenance, and longer lifespan compared to the original sodium lamps. Sanxing developed a dedicated optical design for the project: the main light source is mounted beneath the lantern cover to ensure both roadway lighting and decorative illumination, while also reducing glare and creating a healthy, comfortable urban light environment. The lamp covers are made from imported PMMA, known for its excellent aging resistance, ensuring long-term performance as Yingze Avenue shines as a welcoming gateway of the city.
A Cultural and Tourism Landmark Reimagined
Taiyuan was recently listed among China’s Top 10 Most Popular Mid-Autumn Festival Travel Destinations, a recognition closely tied to the newly renovated Yingze Avenue—especially the now-iconic Yingze Bridge, which has become a top-rated check-in spot on social media. A single avenue capturing the hearts of locals and tourists alike speaks volumes. Sanxing Lighting’s New Chinese Lanterns play a pivotal role—not only meeting the functional demands of road lighting, but also embodying cultural expression, while bringing economic and social value to the city.
Looking ahead, Sanxing Lighting will continue to drive innovation in product design and R&D, launch lighting solutions tailored to diverse needs, and advance its efforts in smart, low-carbon lighting technology. The company is committed to building a healthy and intelligent lighting environment—illuminating a brighter future for China with the power of technology.
