Meihekou Sports Center Landscape Lighting Project: Pine-Cone LED Garden Light Application Case
1. Project Background & Venue Profile
Meihekou Sports Center sits on the south section of Songjiang Road, east of Hedong Avenue, covering a total area of 477,000 square meters with a total investment of 600 million RMB. Construction started in 2006, and the whole complex was officially put into operation in February 2017.
As a core infrastructure for regional cultural and sports development, the sports center undertakes national fitness activities, amateur and professional sports tournaments, and daily public recreation. To match its positioning as a landmark public sports complex, the overall landscape lighting system was upgraded as a key supporting project.
Samsung Lighting undertook the full lighting design and supply work for this project. We delivered 184 sets of customized LED landscape garden lights named Fruitful Harvest, which symbolize abundant achievements of public sports services and fully satisfy diversified fitness demands of local citizens.
2. Lighting Design Concept & Matching Logic
The design team took the venue’s architectural features and public service attributes as the core consideration. The stadium complex contains multiple functional venues including table tennis hall, tennis court, swimming pool and badminton hall, all featuring unique tree-shaped exterior facades.
The pine-cone contour of our Fruitful Harvest LED garden light forms a unified visual echo with the tree-style building outlines. We unified the lamp body color tone to coordinate with the venue’s overall architectural palette, realizing perfect integration of lamps, buildings and natural landscapes.
All lamps are laid along leisure pedestrian trails across the sports center. They provide soft, safe functional lighting for citizens walking, jogging and relaxing after sports, while creating a quiet, warm night atmosphere for the whole venue.

3.1 Design Inspiration & Appearance
The luminaire draws creative inspiration from pine cones, featuring smooth, concise lines and natural elegant outlook. It combines natural artistic beauty of pine cones with modern mainstream LED lighting technology, implying the perseverance of pine trees and abundant harvest of sports undertakings.
The rounded lamp head looks like plump ripe fruits, adding distinctive ornamental value to the green space and walkways of the sports center.
3.2 Material & Technical Advantages
Imported PC lampshade: High temperature resistance, anti-aging, with professional anti-glare treatment to avoid visual irritation for pedestrians;
High-pressure die-cast aluminum lamp body: Strong impact resistance, ultra-long service life, solid structure suitable for heavy public venues;
Outdoor special plastic sprayed lamp pole: Excellent anti-corrosion, anti-rust and UV resistance, stable performance under all-weather outdoor conditions;
Soft warm yellow light output: Gentle halo under striped lampshades delivers intimate, cozy lighting without harsh glare, ideal for post-workout relaxation walkways.
3.3 Scene Matching Value
After sunset, warm light spreads along all trails. The colorful facade lighting of the comprehensive stadium and green plant floodlights set off the soft glow of garden lights together. It creates a tranquil leisure environment for athletes and citizens to release fatigue and relieve pressure after exercise.
4. Project Construction & Delivery Highlights
The project faced tight construction schedule and heavy installation tasks. Our factory optimized production schedule and strictly controlled raw material and finished lamp quality, completing mass production and delivery efficiently to guarantee the smooth progress of venue renovation.
All wiring and installation followed municipal outdoor electrical engineering standards, with hidden wiring layout to protect the original landscape environment. The whole lighting system requires almost no manual intervention after commissioning, featuring low later operation & maintenance cost.
